How We Work Together
Petal & Sable is a San Jose studio working on residential projects across the Bay Area, and remotely beyond it. We take on a small number of projects at a time so each one gets proper attention.
Every engagement begins the same way. We talk, and if it is a good fit you get a written proposal with a defined scope and fee before any work starts.
Select Room Furnishing
One or two rooms, given the same attention as a whole house. The most common place to start, and a straightforward way to see how we work before committing to more.
Remodel
We work alongside your architect and contractor on the decisions that are hard to change later: layout, millwork, tile, fixtures, lighting and paint. You receive floor plans and elevations for every room we touch, and we stay on through the final walkthrough.
Virtual Design
For projects outside the Bay Area. You send measurements and photographs; we return floor plans, elevations and a specified shopping list. Virtual projects do not include 3D renderings, and ordering and installation stay with you.
Remodel + Full Furnishings
Everything above, continued past construction. When the trades leave we furnish the house completely, so the finished rooms look the way they did in the drawings rather than half-dressed.
Turnkey Styling and Installation
Full Home Furnishing
For a house already built or newly bought. Floor plans and elevations room by room, furniture and textiles sourced and specified, orders placed and tracked on our side, then styled on completion.
Our Process
Four phases, the same on every project regardless of size. You will always know which phase you are in, what is happening next, and what is needed from you.
Phase One
Enquiry and consultation
A conversation about the house, how you live in it, the timeline and the budget. If we are the right fit, a written proposal follows with a defined scope and fee.
Phase Two
Concept and plan
Floor plans and elevations, a material and furniture direction, and a full presentation of what is proposed for each room. We revise it together until it is right.
Phase Three
Sourcing and procurement
Ordering, lead times, deliveries and inspection are managed on our side rather than left to you. One point of contact, one running schedule. This work is scoped and priced in your proposal.
Phase Four
Installation and styling
For clients who want it, everything is held and placed in a single installation day. We style the rooms, photograph them, and hand them back finished.
